eleQtron develops and operates full-stack quantum computers based on trapped-ion technology. Quantum computing is a new computing paradigm rapidly approaching commercial viability. Our unique approach combines laser-cooled trapped ions with microwave control and tailored magnetic fields. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (f/m/d).
Responsibilities:
- You will carry out the development and design of highly innovative mechanical components and their integration into the overall quantum computer design system in cooperation with systems experts
- Take responsibility for the mechanical design of our quantum computers, housings and additional supporting structures
- You create 3D models and derive technical drawings used for external manufacturing
- You are responsible for definition of the mechanical product design structure
- You are responsible for CAD data management and managing parts lists and bill of materials
- You define the specifications for manufacturing and support procurement on supplier validation
- Discuss manufacturing methods, materials, and requirement specifications with suppliers
- Help with quick proof of concepts and feasibility discussions
- You are responsible for testing mechanical prototypes and checking against specifications
- You are responsible for proactive communication and close coordination with our customers and suppliers in cooperation with procurement.
- You take on the constant optimization of processes in the existing work environment
Required skills:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering or comparable
- Specialization in vacuum engineering, aerospace engineering and/or cryogenics
- 2+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment
- Experience in design and development of bespoke machinery or systems
- Experience with ultra-high vacuum applications, cryogenics and/or optics preferred
- Experience in manufacturing processes and treatments of broad range of materials beside steel and aluminum
- Knowledge of setting up product structure in PDM, PLM and ERP System
- Experience with systematic product development processes
- Well organized and structured way of working
- Being adaptable while practicing critical thinking
- Business fluent in English and German
We value:
- Experience in the design and manufacturing processes for high precision systems
- Proficiency in CAD packages, preferably SolidWorks
- Experience in FEM simulations and calculations
- An excellent grasp of the fundamentals of mechanical engineering with practical experience
- Knowledge of clean room environment requirements.
- Knowledge of industry standards and mechanical tolerance analysis
- Disciplined in thorough documentation
